In the heart of the eastern Himalayas stands Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim. This picturesque hill town, a significant Buddhist hub, is surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty at every turn, including breathtaking vistas of the snow-capped Mount Kanchenjunga. Visiting Sikkim's Buddhist monasteries, high-altitude lakes, and passes is also made easy from here. In Gangtok, there are many worthwhile locations to visit.
1.Cleanliness
In addition to the cuisine and culture, Gangtok residents are aware of their surroundings. They have ordered daily life and clean roadways, sidewalks, and other public spaces. For one thing, there are trash cans everywhere, whether it's a neighbourhood coffee shop or a monastery, and everyone uses them, unlike in some areas of India where people find it entertaining to throw their trash around.
2.Music
It is impossible to ignore the different billboards promoting future live music performances by bands at nightclubs, lounge-bars, and cafés as you travel from one location to another. There are stores that offer used musical instruments at lower prices without sacrificing quality. Additionally, you can enrol in music classes to receive professional training.
3.Food
Like every other place in India, Gangtok is serious about its cuisine. You can adore how there is a lovely café on practically every street where you can curl up and watch the world go by outside. We would suggest sampling Pakku, a Nepali mutton curry; Kinema, a soybean curry; and Chhurpi, a traditional cottage cheese - all three are served with rice - in addition to the popular Momos and Thukpa. In addition to serving you the local cuisine, they will make your coffee and sandwich precisely how you like them.
4.People
This city is worth visiting because of a kind and helpful population. They'll make sure you have a comfortable stay, show you the way when you get lost, and are always willing to show you around. Gangtok's citizens undoubtedly know how to do things correctly, as Hazrat Inayat Khan once observed, "Some people look for a beautiful place, others make a place beautiful."
5.Dresses
Every woman is always enamoured with the north-east Indians' carefree sense of style. It consequently developed a strong liking for the women's informal attire. The way they wore their skirts, jumpsuits, and jeans astounded me. You would be persuaded to learn the stores they shop at after some time in the city. Anyone will be happy to reveal the secret if you ask, we are sure of it.
How to get there
The distance to the closest airport, Bagdogra, is roughly 125 kilometres.
New Jalpaiguri, Siliguri, is the closest railway station, located 117 miles away.
From Bagdogra and Siliguri, a number of state buses travel to Gangtok. Alternatively, you can book cabs or private buses from either location.
The Sikkim Tourism Department also offers daily helicopter service from Bagdogra to Gangtok, which can be a little pricey but is still an interesting way to begin your vacation.
For solo travellers, it's a wonderful place to go alone. Take a taxi to get about town or just walk a lot.
