Lachung, which is located in Sikkim at an altitude of 8,600 feet above sea level, is a popular stop for tourists, especially those who are heading to Yumthang Valley or Zero Point. The charming little hamlet has been aptly named among the most picturesque villages of North East India, drawing thousands of tourists and nature enthusiasts from far and wide to its scenic wealth of stunning fruit orchards, sparkling streams, and gushing blue rivers flowing against the mesmerising backdrop of snow-crowned Himalayas looming over by azure blue skies. The town is nothing less than a heaven for those who are searching for a place to go in order to breathe in the clean air and experience the tranquillity of the mountains.

A popular trekking destination called "Zero Point," also known as "Yumesamdong," provides every adventure seeker with some exhilarating and breathtaking views of nature. Travelers who are looking for some adventure in Lachung will also undoubtedly be treated to a variety of offerings that will help them satiate their adrenaline cravings. "Mt. Katao" is a destination that true adventure seekers must visit because it will leave them spellbound by the never-ending fun of snow-boarding, skiing, and snow-tubing. Having stated that, Mt. Katao requires Indian Army approval, which is absolutely necessary and entirely dependent upon the weather predictions for that particular day.

While Lachung's abundance of tourist sites and variety of adventurous offers are what primarily drive tourism there, the city also attracts a small number of visitors eager to learn more about the distinctive cultures and customs of the area. Lepchas and Bhutias, who are mostly Buddhist adherents and who practise their religion with great reverence and respect today, make up the majority of the town's population.

Winter:

From October to February, Lachung has cool temperatures (10°C to -5°C), misty grey roads, snowfall, and a tranquil stillness that can only be brought by the still cold air. After a snowfall, the village is transformed into a white wonderland, and the trees change from green to frosty. The best outdoor activities and sights are available at this time of year without the worry about sunburn or dehydration. The wind is chilly, and the sun is kind.

Monsoon:

Heavy rains reign over Lachung, brought on by the South-West Monsoon. Roads become slick, prone to landslides, and in some cases, blocked by the rain. Therefore, it is not advised to travel to Lachung in the monsoon season, which runs from July to September. Even though the mountain village is drenched in stunning scenery, it ruins the majority of outdoor activities.

Summer:

At this height, Lachung's summertime temperatures are moderate, not oppressively hot. They are between 10°C and 28°C. In addition to the majority of fruit orchards bearing ripe fruits, rhododendrons are in full bloom at this time of year. The State Tourism Department hosts a number of festivals and events in conjunction with the blooming of rhododendron blooms, making this a good time to travel. A white sheet suddenly gives way to white, purple, yellow, and green shoots in the valley. The greatest time of year to visit Lachung is at the start of summer.
