The second most popular tourist destination in Sikkim, after Gangtok, is the lovely town of Pelling in the West district. The place's main draw is the beautiful view of the Khangchendzonga and the surrounding peaks, which are visible from a distance of 130 kilometres from Gangtok and 10 km from Geyzing, respectively.

Within less than a km of here is the well-known Pemayangste monastery, a popular destination for tourists. Along with acting as a starting point for a number of treks in the area, Pelling also has places for mountain biking, rock climbing, village tours, and meditation. All nature lovers and adventure seekers should spend their vacations in the picturesque village of Pelling.

Pelling, a charming little hamlet located at a height of 6800 feet, was originally covered in a wild, dense forest that was home to many native wild creatures of the time, including the Wildman (who may not actually be yeti). Due to its location between Pemayangtse and Sangacholing, two ancient Buddhist monasteries, this ridge eventually grew into the village of Pelling. Pelling is currently one of Sikkim's most popular tourist destinations. Pelling serves as the hub for access to all of West Sikkim's spectacular tourism attractions.

Pelling is a year-round destination with lodging options for every price range. Every year, Pelling hosts the Khangchendzonga Festival, which is named after the protector deity of Sikkim.

Don't leave the environment littered.

Where is Pelling located?

Pelling, which lies in western Sikkim, is located at a height of roughly 7,000 feet. It is a tiny hill town that is situated 131 kilometres from Gangtok and 10 kilometres from Geyzing, one of the major cities in Western Sikkim.

You will have a clear, up-close view of the Himalayan and Kanchenjunga mountain ranges from this location because it is right adjacent to them. There are more alpine plants here and more waterfalls because this area is less developed than other Sikkim cities.

You can get to West Sikkim's Geyzing, Legship, Yuksom, and other towns and villages from Pelling. Additionally, this is where most treks begin, making it a must-visit location for all adventure enthusiasts.

And what's the best feature of this location, exactly? Since Pelling is situated at a high elevation, it frequently experiences snowfall throughout the winter, which gives the region an ethereal quality. So, Pelling is the place to go if you've always longed to see pristine, untracked snow in the mountains.

How to reach Pelling

Pelling is a little more difficult to get to than other main Sikkim cities, especially if you don't have your own car. Since there are no buses that go straight to Pelling, you must first get to the Geyzing (district administrative centre) before continuing to this tiny hill town.
