Detailed Bhutan Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Bagdogra/NJP/Siliguri to Phuentsholing – Arrival, Transfer & Immigration

Arrive at IXB/Bagdogra Airport, NJP Railway Station or Siliguri, where you will be welcomed by the tour representative. Proceed towards Jaigaon and Phuentsholing, the gateway to Bhutan.

The journey covers approximately 165 km and takes around 4 hours, depending on traffic and road conditions. After reaching the border area, complete the required Bhutan immigration and permit formalities with assistance from the representative.

Later, explore Phuentsholing and enjoy an evening stroll through the local market. The town offers a unique blend of Bhutanese and Indian border culture.

Day 2: Phuentsholing to Thimphu – En Route Sightseeing

After breakfast, complete the required permit formalities and begin your scenic journey towards Thimphu, the capital of Bhutan.

The drive covers approximately 160 km and takes around 5 hours. En route, visit Kharbandi Monastery, known for its peaceful surroundings and panoramic views. Continue through the Himalayan landscape with stops at the Chukha Dam View Point, Gedu View Point and Wankha Waterfall.

Enjoy views of green valleys, mountain roads, forests and traditional Bhutanese settlements during the journey.

On arrival in Thimphu, check in to the hotel and relax. In the evening, you may explore the local market.

Day 3: Thimphu to Paro – Thimphu Sightseeing & Tiger’s Nest Experience

After breakfast, begin your Thimphu sightseeing tour covering some of the city's major attractions.

Visit the National Memorial Chorten, Takin Preserve Centre, National Library, National Textile Museum, Buddha Point, Painting School, Tashichho Dzong and Simply Bhutan.

Later, proceed towards Paro for the highlight of your Bhutan trip — the Tiger’s Nest Monastery (Taktsang) hike.

The hike is of medium difficulty and involves a significant uphill climb. The guide will provide the necessary hiking briefing and tips before the trek.

The Tiger’s Nest is one of Bhutan's most recognised landmarks and is associated with Guru Padmasambhava, revered in Bhutan as the Second Buddha.

After completing the visit, return and relax.

Day 4: Paro to Phuentsholing – Sightseeing & Transfer

After breakfast, proceed for the final round of sightseeing in Paro before beginning your journey towards Phuentsholing.

Visit the impressive Paro Dzong, located beside the river, followed by Kyichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan's historic temples. Continue to the ruins of Drukgyel Dzong, set against a scenic mountain backdrop, and explore the National Museum, which showcases Bhutan's cultural heritage.

Later, continue your drive towards Phuentsholing. On arrival, enjoy an evening market walk and experience the lively atmosphere of this Bhutanese border town.

Day 5: Phuentsholing to Bagdogra/NJP/Siliguri – Departure

After breakfast, complete the Bhutan exit formalities and begin your return journey towards Bagdogra Airport/NJP Railway Station/Siliguri.

  • 15–29 days before travel: 40% cancellation charges
  • 7–14 days before travel: 70% cancellation charges
  • Less than 7 days before travel or no-show: 100% cancellation charges

  Bhutan permit charges and SDF, once processed, may be partially or fully non-refundable as per applicable Bhutan tourism policies.

  Hotel cancellation policies may vary during peak season, festivals, long weekends and blackout dates.
