Itinerary (Day Wise)
Day 1: Cross into Bhutan – Welcome to Phuentsholing
- Arrive at IXB/NJP transfer to Phuentsholing by the border town Jaigaon. Upon arrival in Jaigaon, you will be traditionally greeted by the tour executives for travel to the serene kingdom of Bhutan through Phuentsholing, today you will do the immigration formalities and see Phuentsholing town.
- Check into the booked hotel and get ready for exploration.
- Explore local markets and soak up the unusual border town vibe.
- In the evening, relax and have dinner in your hotel.
Day 2: Serene 5 Hours' Drive to Thimphu
- In the morning, after having breakfast, drive through lush foothills as well as terraced fields. En route, visit Zangtopelri Lhakhang in Phuentsholing, a sacred temple believed to represent Guru Rinpoche’s heavenly abode and an important spiritual landmark of southern Bhutan. Continue onwards to the tranquil Kharbandi Monastery, beautifully set amidst lush gardens and offering peaceful views of the surrounding valleys.
- Arrive at Bhutan’s peaceful capital city of the Kingdom of Bhutan, home to approximately 114,000 inhabitants, including the Royal Family.
- In the evening, wander through colorful markets and relax at your hotel.
Day 3: Thimphu – Dive Deep into Bhutanese Traditions
- After having breakfast, visit scenic landmarks, like National Memorial Chorten, followed by the Takin Preserve Centre, where we can see Bhutan’s national animal. We will then explore the National Library and the National Textile Museum to learn more about Bhutan’s rich cultural heritage. Next, we will visit the magnificent Buddha Point, offering panoramic views of the city, and the Painting School, where traditional Bhutanese art is taught. Later, we will visit the impressive Tashichho Dzong and the interactive cultural museum, Simply Bhutan.

Day 4: Thimphu - Paro and Tiger’s Nest Monastery Trek
- A hike to the legendary Tiger’s Nest Monastery above the valley takes 1.5 hours. Guru Padmasambhava (referred in Bhutan as the second Buddha), who has introduced Buddhism in Bhutan has landed on the back of a tigress in the 8th century and meditated in the cave where tiger’s nest main Temple perched now. Today, you will do a hike to the most recognised spot in Bhutan. It will be around4.5miles medium level hike with elevation escalation of 900m from Paro Valley. Your guild will do hiking tips and brief you one day prior to the hike. After that we will proceed to sight see places such as: TakshangMonestery
- Enjoy the serene Himalayan vistas and absorb the spiritual aura of this site.
- Overnight stay in charming Paro town.
Day 5: Paro Cultural Gems and Return to Phuentsholing
- Visit Paro’s treasures, sacred Kyichu Lhakhang, historic Paro Dzong, and the ancient ruins of Drukgyel Dzong.
- Explore the National Museum’s captivating Bhutanese artifacts.
- After all this, come back to Phuentsholing in Bhutan’s border town.
Day 6: Farewell Bhutan – Transfer to the India Border
- In the morning, say goodbye to the stunning Himalayan paradise.
- You will be transferred to Bagdogra airport or NJP railway station.
- Go back home with unforgettable memories.

How difficult is the Tiger’s Nest hike?
The Tiger’s Nest (Taktsang Monastery) hike on Day 4 is of moderate difficulty:
Distance: Approx. 4.5 miles (round trip)
Elevation Gain: About 900 metres
Time: 4–6 hours (with breaks)
Basic fitness is recommended. Pony rides (at extra cost) are available partway.
Can senior citizens or children do this tour?
Yes, this tour is suitable for families and senior citizens. However, the Tiger’s Nest hike is optional. Those who do not wish to hike may take pony rides available near the entrance gate or you may reach halfway sit and relax and enjoy the view of Monastery from the Taktsang Cafeteria.
Is travel insurance included?
Travel insurance is not included unless mentioned separately. Guests are advised to arrange their own travel insurance.
